PR has been pushing the boundaries to get the message out as fast as possible. This article goes into the evolution of PR in the world and how the author and people inside the industry see the evolution going from here. This article addresses many issues and is a good read. The most interesting part in my opinion is the limitations part of the article that brings up valid problems with all use of social media.
Do you think industry specific social media sites will take off, or will they become annoying like mailing lists for an industry?
How many of these things are your company doing? Do you think they are doing a good job?

ReplyDeleteReally great article!
ReplyDeleteGood questions....
The article mentions one company saving $270K annually by moving PR in-house,using social media and using webinars instead of costly events. A savings like that, regardless of the specific channel, says to me that social media is here to stay.
Very true Marissa. I would have to say that any free publicity is well worth the investment (of time). Anything you gain out of that is pure profit that you may not have gotten several years ago.
